My mother bought the mattress which is supposed to mould to one's shape, and has tried cotton mattress cover and sheets, but still finds it too hot - any sensible ideas would be appreciated - thanks!

The trouble with these things is the material they are made of - which is something the makers don't tell you!

Because they are made of synthetic material - your body heat transfers into the synthetics thus making the mattress as warm as you are - in theory you have two body heats in one location!

Not all they are cracked up to be - and there is no easy answer to cooling down on them! No covers or very light covers over you!

Get a feather-filled duvet and put it over the mattress and under the bottom sheet - it'll put a barrier between you and the mattress, which should stop all your body heat being absorbed by the mattress and radiated back.

You could try a thick mattress cover, as an alternative - but they're usually made of synthetics, and would probably make the problem worse.

Try satin sheets... very nice to sleep in but also a lot cooler on the body... wear lighter jammies too or go in the buff to really keep it cool.

you cannot do much for that. i would suggest sleeping with a fan pointed at you while your sleeping that would keep you cooler, it works for me.
