Fat is not going to become muscle as iron is not going to become gold. It is just a form of explaining a more complex biological truth.

Exercise will build muscle, a tissue, and muscle will burn fat.
Also the Oxygen Co2 exchange and many more chemical factor are involve, but the simple answer is that muscle will be built by exercise and muscle will burn fat.

When people say that exercising 'turns fat in to muscle', they don't mean it literally! lol

What it means is that when you exercise you burn off fat and at the same time build muscle, so you are replacing the fat that you lose with new muscle instead.

Hope this makes sense : )

Fat does not turn to muscle! Exercising results in the body burning off the excess fat, and then toning up/building up more muscle!

no, they are two totally different types of tissue. One cannot turn into the other. When you exercise, you are burning energy. Part of that energy comes from stored bodyfat. At the same time, if you're training and eating correctly, your muscles will respond to the demands you're making on them. So your lean body mass might increase. Fat goes down. Muscle goes up. The more lean mass you have, the more efficiently your metabolism can work and that'll help keep you lean. But if you stop working out, the muscle will shrink, your metabolism will slow and you'll be less likely to burn off the calories you consume, so it'll get stored as bodyfat. Muscles goes down, and if you don't change your diet, Fat goes up. But one does not, cannot become the other.

It's like asking 'Does water turn into wine?' Well, in the Bible yes, but not in reality. Fat and muscle are two different things in their composition. Fat cannot turn into muscle. Fat can be burnt off either by doing lots of cardiovascular exercise, like running or cycling. or it can also be burnt off by increasing your muscle mass A person with big muscles would burn off more fat or calories than a less muscular person even just by sitting around as it would need more nutrients. I think this is where you get the confusion. More muscle burns off fat but it doesn't mean that your fat turns into muscle. You basically breath out broken down fat, sweat it out and wee it out.

Fat can't turn into muscle: they're made from different things (muscle is made from protein, fat cells are fat and water) with chemically different components. But exercise will help you lose fat and gain muscle.

People more often talk about "muscle turning into fat" when people STOP exercising - but that's more that they're used to eating extra calories, and if they don't reduce their intake when they stop, they will put on fat.

Fat doesn't magically turn into muscle. Fat is replaced by muscle and the more muscle mass you have the faster you will burn calories.

It is physically impossible for fat to turn into muscle. When you excercise you burn off the fat and build up the muscle.
