Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice in a teaspoon of baking soda, and apply the mixture on the knee.
Leave it on for half an hour, and wash, and apply plenty of moisturiser. You may have to keep applying a lot of moisture (Because this mixture dries your skin fast)
This will lighten the thick, dark skin on knees, elbows, feet. Trust me, it does wonders.
Bakiing soda is also a great exfoliating agent, you can use it diluted with water on your face, to clean clogged pores and remove blackheads.
But do not use it more than once a week.
Good luck.

Try using Palmer's skin success soap followed by cocoa butter lotion. That's what I use for my dark knees and stretch marks.

Well Hydrogen Peroxide will bleach as will lemon juice. It can't hurt to give it a try.
