There's no arbitrary "Section Eight" thing which gets you locked up, not even hearing voices. If you get violent when you lose your temper, you might well be faced with a choice between jail and a mental hospital. Or even have a judge order you to a treatment facility.
But that's hardly the point now, is it? It's not just about your being caught by a particular bureaucratic procedure. It's about whether or not you can control yourself well enough that it really is safe to let you work this out as an out-patient, seeing a therapist once or twice a week.
If you are not sure that you are that much in control of yourself, then I would strongly suggest you sign yourself into a mental health facility (generally a ward in the general hospital, not a whole separate hospital), and get some help learning how to control your temper enough that you can trust yourself not to end up busted for assault or worse.
It is important to be in a protected environment to protect YOU, too, not just any potential victim. Because you might lose your temper with someone who knows how to fight back, and is tougher than they look.

I don't believe so, but if your mood swings are often, I would suggest getting help right away or just walk away from the situation that causes these mood swings. Take a few deep breaths when this happens. Tell yourself to not sweat the small stuff because it all builds up to bigger stuff and you'll only hurt yourself worse in the long run. Not to mention the disappointment for yourself and your loved ones. Good luck!

You are not going to be sectioned for having mood swings. People are only sectioned if they are either a danger to others or themselves. As for hearing voices, all human beings have internal dialogue, it is part of the human condition - so that is not a reason in itself to be sectioned either. Also, strictly speaking, losing your temper is not a mood swing. It sounds more as though you have issues with anger management than mood swings.

I don't think so - sectioning, as far as I am aware, is for people with mental health problems who are either not seeking or not responding to help - which wouldn't seem to be the case with you. However, I think the most important thing is for you to get a diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Do you yet have an assigned mental health nurse who could put your mind at rest on this point? If not, maybe your GP could help. I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

You could be depressed My depression includes mood swings (horrible ones) there are medications to help control them (not stop then just help you get a grip on them and not have so many)
You need to see a psychiatrist not a reg MD they no nothing about how the brain works
If you need to call your mental health dept. they will work on a scale payment. They are very nice people they deal with people with depression and other illnesses everyday
That is where I go
Mood swings are horrible to have because its like your a light switch going off and on at anytime ........ I know how you feel
Since on medication I don't have them like I use to

No they can not section you, unless you become a danger to yourself or others. I dont know if you are male or female, but hormones effect everyone, maybe you have an imbalance.
I have a hormonal problem, which effects everything, my skin, my moods everything.
If you find you have bad skin, this is normally one of the first signs. Dont let you GP fob you off, get him to do blood test, and make a fuss until you have an answer that takles the root of your problems.
Good luck.

you may try and see another doctor ..i think you should be put on some medicine to help with this...also you can get counseling for your mood swings and your temper...a temper can get a person in real trouble...but i think you may be bi-polar and in that case you do need to get some medication to stabalize you...i do not know what section you means..or even if people think they hear voices i know they have medicine for that to..i have talked to many people with these sorts of problems...the best thing to do is to seek treatment in a proper facility...

No - mood swings are a sign or indicator of depression - many people suffer mood swings in depression!
It can be heightened by certain medications given to combat depression as well - if you are on medication for depression - talk to your doc again and ask for the tablets to be changed!

It depends on how far you go...if you act in a 'dangerous behavior' and may be putting your or other people's health or life at risk...then yes. BUt if it is merely screaming and throwing objects against the wall...then it is up to you to seek anger management therapy before it gets really out of control. Good luck with that.
