Like Jews, Seventh Day Adventists are allowed to eat farm animals with a cloven hooves that 'chew cud'. Beef, lamb. Fish is fine too.

Seven Day Adventists "Prophetess" Ellen White promoted a vegetarian diet for health reasons as opposed to religious purposes, but vegetarianism is NOT an official theologically-approved observance of the church.

I used to be a Seventh Day Adventist and my family attempted vegetarianism. For XMC - the 7th Dayers believe that humans shouldn't consume flesh, especially that of unclean animals as described in the OT - those that don't chew the cud, have cloven hoof or don't have scales (I think, I may be a bit scratchy on that by now). I remember that when we made allowances, it was only ever white meat, fish or chicken and turkey at christmas - not sure to the relevance of that at the time but that was the decision my Mum made. I remember I always craved red meat though and I grew up to have a severe iron deficiency. Once we were travelling on a plane and I was eating the provided ham sandwich (often my Mum would order the vegetarian meal, but she didn't this time) I was 14 at the time and my mum turned around and saw me and shouted out (within earshot of most onboard) "you filthy pig!!!" and ripped the sandwich from my mouth and hand. It was so humiliating and I'm sure that did more damage to me than anything that was going to pass through me and out the other end!
