No, i think people first need to experience some terrible event, after that they probably will wake up. But it probably will already be too late by then.

I believe that we humans are going to adjust to the conditions as they arise. People are not going to change their lifestyles enough to alter these conditions.
Examples: We know that cigarettes cause lung cancer but people continue to smoke. They refuse to quit. We know that drinking and driving don't mix but people continue to get in a car drunk and drive anyway.
We can be our own worst enemy.
There will be a token effort to go green but I believe we have passed the fail safe point and it will take centuries to correct this global warming problem.
When land based ice melts, such as Greenland and other areas, it is going to raise the sea level to about 20 t0 30 feet and place large amounts of coastal areas under water. Florida will be one that is worst hit.

It's too late, because big business and foolish Repugs will convince enough people to do nothing.

That said, I still conserve, recycle and downgrade as much as I can.
