Yes. I always am, especially when I'm out and about. I'll help a woman with a pushchair up the stairs, I'll help old lady across the street. I always thank the driver at zebra crossings. It's almost obsessive!

Yes it is. Politeness and manners go hand in hand, although some probably do not know why we use certain etiquette.Good manners have evolved over centuries within different cultures as a sign of respect for another person. If you show you have no respect for someone else then I think you also loose your own self respect.

I notice more when people are rude than polite, if that makes sense! I am always trying to be polite and hate it when ignorance, which is not bliss by the way, comes out in people. I think we would all benefit if we were all a bit more polite. x

Politeness cost nothing therefore unless someone is rude to you, you should always be polite. I find things like saying please and thank you are happening less and less. If you hold a door open for someone they often just walk through without acknowledging you as though you are invisible. The times I have said very loudly "you're welcome" but they just ignore it. I do think children should be taught manners and they should use them. If we catch them young hopefully it will continue throughout their lives.

Yes it is.....
But we have to remember that for every action there is a reaction. Basically we pull in what we've pulled out. So if you are not polite yourself, then how can you expect politeness from others?

Definitely - I would say about 11 on a scale of 1 - 10.
There's nothing worse than bad manners.

Of course.

What does it hurt to spend that little bit of extra time in being polite? Absolutley nothing, and people tend to be more polite to you in return, which equals less hassle and less stress.

If it is genuine, even more so. Courtesy, respect, politeness says something of the quality of our upbringing and overall character.

Very much so. I can be very unsympathetic towards people who haven't got basic manners. I hate it when somebody is impolite and I believe that a little of manners don't cost any money.
