I just got an email from a Yahoo! Answers christian (won't say who) which started off mocking me for one of my answers (which was very astute mind you) and then telling me that I "need salvation". Initially I was taken aback, thinking "why would a christian, touting Jesus' message of love be so insulting" but then I remembered that Christianity thrives on beating people down and making them feel that they are less than they are and that they need something more to be whole. So I guess I'm no longer surprised by the email. Typical Christian tactic though I doubt this was the senders intention, must have been a subconscious effort from all the brainwashing. What are your thoughts on this?

I guess you met the wrong one. I'm Christian and wouldn't attack a person for their opinions. I've read yours and it was quite offensive. People depend their lives on their religion at times so I just request a bit more respect alright? I mean calling it a fairytale..I believe the so called fairytale and I'm not delusional. I search for facts and I have my facts set straight for me. I'm sorry bout the email dude but just remember not all Christians are like that and if you post stuff like what you did you have to expect some turbulence from the defensive ones.:) Peace!

I think that many nonchristians purposely put questions on here to irritate, harrass, and insult the word of God. Then want to come on here and complain that they got an email from a christian and was insulted by the email. Not to say that this is what you're doing, but I'm just using this as an example. Nobody is perfect. And how do you know that person was a Christian? They may not really be. Just because they say they are, doesn't mean it's true. You seem to be very uneducated on Christianity by the fact that you said that it thrives on beating people down. And if you doubt the senders intention that means that you don't really know what the person meant. Maybe you are just taking what he/she said the wrong way. And again, what is the point of this post? Saying we need something more to be whole? Seems like you're trying to insult. So if you get another email from someone who you think is a Christian will you again act like you're surprised? Nobody likes to feel insulted whether they are a Christian or not.

Maybe because the religious majority in the western world is trying to make laws and policies based on a 2000 year old fairy tale. They want to take away personal freedom and stand in the way of real progress.
That was your answer.
What about the Eastern World. Do you think Islamic nations, for example, would allow Dr. Carl Sagan to teach at, say, the University of Tehran!
What about the Chinese mainland, which is a declared Atheist nation, but they ban web sites and treat all their adult people like those Christians in the west do to their children with Parental Controls and Yahoo, you know, goes along with it.
Tell me why you neglect these points, is it because of PERSONAL PREJUDICE against CHRISTIANS and NOT ABOUT REPRESSION AT ALL.
Is this some type of Vendetta.
Come on speak to us. Tell us what you think of Mainland China, India and the Hindus, the Islamic nations of the world and remember right now in IRan they are purgeing the univiersities of "liberbal" instructors. Tell us what you think about how THAT RELIGION advances Science.
You're a one issue person and the Christian called you out on it and so do I. You're statement clearly says WESTERN, so OBVIOUSLY you some some type of a Communist Islamic sympatheizer who is pretending to be a scientist.
Go to Syria or Iran or Saudi Arabia or Somalia and see how much PERSONAL FREEDOM you get there! Although you're probabaly already there at some university learning how in the Quran Allah explained about atomic structure and genomes.
You're CONDEMNATION of the WEST gave you away. We all know who you are now. You're probably anti-Zionist as well!
Speak up, clear the air!
Knowledge ONLY comes with unrestricted freedom and you don't get that in the EAST, you get what they LET YOU HAVE and nothing more.

Friend you have many young Christians on this site, Too many Christians think they can get saved today & are ready to tell the world tomorrow, how to live when they themself don't even know what the Bible says, I was that way the first year I got saved, but in 37 yrs. of serving God, I have learned how to act, walk & talk, & present myself.

I'm sorry that a Christian sent you a nasty email, but I must disagree that it's a 'typical Christian tactic'.One of the fundamental beliefs of Christianity is that we are all sinners. If you think that's 'beating people down',so be it.

That happened to me about two weeks ago except the person was threatening me and my pets and sending me not only hate mails but they would take up an entire page of "Jesus Loves You." emails to me also. I forwarded them to yahoo customer care and asked them to stop this person from harassing me. Just because these religious fanatics believe the opposite from you does not give them the right to harass you. Also just because they are Christian does NOT give them the right to harass people.
