Sometimes we can do nothing even when we know the future.
In fact by trying to change what is to come we often bring it on.
I speak as one who suffers premonitions.

I think people would if they could and do if they can. Motives might be another matter.
Everything that humans do seems concerned with knowing, controlling, correcting, changing or avoiding the future. Even maintaining the status quo and the study of history are really about the future.
If people can't know the future, change it, correct it, etc.; they spend the balance of their time arguing about it or writing grant proposals; so they can maintain a comfort zone for their "pure" scientific research.

You mean like bet on the triple crown? For sure. If however, as I believe you mean, that some terrible and disastrous event is going to unfold. As implied by your concern to actually do something as opposed to capitalizing on the exquisite knowledge. Then ...sure...why not. Whatever I could do to help relieve pain and suffering, I believe it would be the right thing to do. At least in my universe.

"I've seen the future brother, and it is murder". I have my hands full right now, or maybe there empty. I lean to the left, but that doesn't make everyone else right. By knowing the beginning one knows the end. In time forms change, the timeless puts forth forms. Forms know forms, timeless knows all. Eternity is where we stand, though most don't know this truth, we are doing all we can............Wonder-full Questions.

There is something about the future we all know about-
"We are dying the day we are born, the minute we stop breathing life."
No, I wouldn't want to change a thing- If not broke please don't fix

Even without knowing, I want to do something about it.
Even with no children, I want to do something about it.
I want to leave this place as good as I found it, if I can't leave it a better place.
I want to participate in the preservation of our green and lovely planet. I want to participate in promoting the idea that "different" is not synonymous with "bad". I want to encourage those people who life has put near me to be as awake, as active, as participatory as they can be - in their own lives, in their neighborhoods, in their world; to recognize and support community; to reach out beyond their immediate circumstances; to live mindfully.
"I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something.
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do
The something that I can do."
