It largely depends upon how scratched it is. usually these trim items will have a grain on so filling deep scratches etc would still affect the appearance. Although there are some good mobile trim repairs out their that will come to you assess, quotes and if you like it fix it on the spot. You could look on the web for local companies to you.

The other option if the scratches are light is to use trim restorers, (available from most auto stores - halfords etc (back to black etc)). These will hide any white marks, but be careful. if you dashboard is low gloss you need to make sure that what you are using does not cause it to go shiny. Whatever product you use you will most likely have to do the whole dashboard so that it doesn't look patchy.

I would not recommend replacing it with one from a breakers as this is a lengthy task and you may end up damaging other parts etc in the process.

Classic Beetle or new Beetle? Try ordering a replacement from a Breaker's Yard if the damage is irrepairable (use Google for one in your area)

Car body repair shops fill scratches in a plastic dash with strong glue, then sand to smooth out the repair then spray paint the repair to make it match the dash.

Another option is to wipe it over with baby oil...if its a thin scratch, it should disguise it.

You may also be able to buy products in places such as halfords (instead of paying fortune direct with dealer), normally you wipe then on, let them dry then polish/buff them until satisfied with the results.

This would be made out of vinyl or some kind of plastic, right? I can only go by what used car lots do -silicone the crap out it and buff it up.
