I agree with the first answer, i bought compseed and it kept flapping at the edge where the inside of the mouth is wet. When i took the patch off it took the top of the coldsore off, which was not only painful but it made it worse. Zovirax and other coldsore creams only work if you catch the coldsore right at the very start, which is generally quite difficult. Apart from trying not to touch it and not sharing towels, flannels etc with other people there is very little you can do, but let it run its course and heal on its own

I REALLY wanted you to know that you can EASILY never have to deal with another horrible, awful, nasty cold-sore for the rest of your life!!

I got them every winter my whole life until 3 years ago (I'm 36 now) and they were the BANE of my existence...the whole process took weeks to heal and would leave a scar for at least 2 months sometimes!

I was reading a message board on www.curezone.org and discovered the PERFECT remedy for both healing them and preventing them completely:
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT

So, I buy the liquid tincture by "HerbPharm" and it has not failed me ONCE...Whenever I'm feeling drained, tired, stressed, or get that tingly feeling on my lip, I just load up on this stuff.

This is the one I buy:

You can also get Olive Leaf at Whole Foods Market, and other natural food stores.

Very cheap.

The first time I tried it, I was actually halfway into a major eruption and I drank a bunch of the extract in some water.
AS I WAS DRINKING the stuff down, I could feel the swelling on my lip shrinking...I was in such shock--I ran to the mirror--it was shrinking before my eyes and within ten minutes my lip had returned to NORMAL...I began kissing the bottle of Olive Leaf...yeah, I really did!!

I had tried everything in the past...I can't begin to tell you what I went through...and it's now been 3 YEARS since I've had one!!

Buy myrrh tincture instead - its really cheap and dries up the cold sore and heals it faster.

Also consider taking a zinc supplement if you are prone to frequent cold sores. I began taking one several years ago and now get very few cold sores at all - i think it has made a huge difference.

I can't say i've ever heard of it, but when I have a cold sore I dab it with a drop of pure vodka and it always does the trick.

best thing for cole sores is zovirax, i am prone to them and ever since being given this, it has greatly helped, when i feel the tingle i just put it on and let it work its magic, whether its the tingle or the full thing use zovirax, its quite dear, so i get it on prescription in much bigger tubes than you pay for, so try that.

I wouldnt bother, if you mean the patched, they dont work.

You'd be better off sticking selotape on the cold sore.

As soon as you have a drink, its off.

Personally, i find dabbing with TCP works best for me.
