In general the African grey is the best talker, however, talking ability depends on the individual bird (some African greys don't ever learn to talk). Amazons (esp the double yellow headed and the yellow naped), Quakers, and macaws also can develop quite a good vocabulary. If you want a parrot that speaks well you may want to get an older bird that already speaks from a rescue or from someone looking to rehome their bird. If you buy a baby bird, there is no guarantee it will ever learn to talk.

From Budgies to Macaws, most parrots have talking abilities.

The ones known for their talking are African Greys (both Congo and Timneh), Amazon's, Macaws and Cockatoos. I have both a Military Macaw and a Greenwing Macaw and both speak wonderfully.

I grew up with a cockatiel named Toby that could talk too. It's all in how much time you spend with the bird. You will only get out of a bird what you put into it as far as behavior and talking abilities.

And, likewise, sometimes you can spend a lifetime hoping, but never hear your bird utter a sound.

The parrot that is green in colour which will be known as the mountaneous parrot. Know what? I owned one and is a great choice to pick from all the beautiful birds. You know that if you keep talking with it and not try to harm it then it will speak what you have taught it.

most parrots have talking ability. but some just dont talk.
if you really want a talking parrot best to buy one that already talks. cause you might be disapointed if the one you choose doesnt talk.
do you just want a parrot to talk? thats not the right reason to get a parrot. they a lifetime pets. not the right thing to do just get rid of it cause it doesnt talk. not a good life.

Parrots do not talk in the real meaning of the word, they simply mimic or copy speech or every day sounds. When I was at school my biology teacher used to have a minah bird that as well as repeating words often said in class would do a very good impression of an ambulance siren as there was a main road just outside the classroom window.

It's a close race between the:
1. African Grey / Tinmeh Grey Parrot
2. Amazon Parrot
3. Eclectus Parrot

Other birds may at times have excellent speaking abilities but these three are generally right on top of any list..
