Think about it. Stuff starts to break down and gasses form, hence the floating.

No, just the opposite. If it floats, then it's bad or stale. Next time you crack open an egg, take a look at the inside of the shell. On one end, there's a membrane. As the egg ages, air gets trapped inside which causes the egg to float. The older the egg is, the larger this membrane area is. You ever boil an egg and find that one end is dented rather than rounded like the shape of your egg? That's due to the air trapped in the membrane.

put the eggs in a bowl of water . The ones that sink are considered to be good and the ones that float are stale.

it is always advisable when u place eggs in a refrigerator that narrower part should face upwards.

if u want to differentiate between a boiled and a raw egg ..then u need to rotate it on its axis...if the egg rotates then it is boiled else raw.

bad eggs float .. and that is because as the egg gets old the yolk starts to shrink and the air inside the egg increases and that makes it float ....

Good eggs sink ...
