I don't know how many comments I've read that say something like: Belief in a god only leads to sexisim, homophobia, irrational thinking, repression of female power, wars, inquisition, more child abuse, rape due to repression and so on.
In the Christian belief, these things are seen as extremely wrong and aren't part of believing in God at all. In fact, it teaches to do the quite the opposite to avoid all of those. Without something teaching against it we would have no order and it would all run rampant in society and no one would think that it was wrong.
I acknowledge that these are simply my opinions and views, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

Note: The bible doesn't teach Homophobia, just simply that it is not acceptable to God. It never says to treat them badly. Homophobia is a fear of homosexuals not a reprimation.

As an Atheist, evil is not part of my life. I don't believe in it any more than I believe in a god, which are both talked about and taught in the christian bible. So because of religion evil is a concept some people have bought into. If it was never taught, would it exist? And yes, I believe by the evidence that christianity, in general, teaches homophobia, sexism, child abuse, irrational thinking, inquisition, war, prejudice, discrimination, and mental abuse. That they call it LOVE just makes it all the more abusive and insulting. It is anything but.

The list of things belief leads to that you give is perfectly fair. Nobody says that everybody that is religious automatically becomes a bigot. But those who are can and do use religion as their excuse for their actions.
Wars are a slightly different case. Wars are often encouraged by a country's leader using religious retoric. A couple of examples:
* George W said God told him to invade Iraq.
* Hitler said "I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord". He spoke about religion frequently (in private as well as in public). The German churches would bless the troops and weapons and the German troops were led to believe they were doing God's work.
I don't think it can be denied that religion can have a negative effect in the areas you list.

because honesty is a better policy and from there it gets complicated as very sophisticated thinking manipulates the mind of those already tainted by the first cut , that's the deepest .when people leave it up to a god that doesn't exist evil gets a free ride without as much opposition from those who might have suumed the proper responsibility to stop the evil left for god to not handle .
ironic but thats the jist of much corruption and how it goes without justice . would you rather wait for death or act for now and live well the former is the god system that fails as it 's based on a lie. those who don't avoid evil are not corrected in the christo- god process till it's too late .unless of course the non religious legal system steps in with its backwards better than nothing process that might be improved if not for the opiate of the people, religion . think about it honesty is the best policy not fairy tales .

Your observation is quite precise, but many people think the opposite because there are throughout history many bad actions done by false believers and other people who disguise as believers. But the fruit of the religons of God are definitely good.
In order to have a truthful knowledge about the One True God we have to read the Holy Books by ourselves. When we believe, we must put the sacred verses into pactice and observe the results directly in ourselves and in our communities. If we are confirmed, the hearsay will no longer affect us.

It is peoples interpretations of how they feel the Bible and God speaks to them on how we should live our lives that cause this in my opinion. It is the churches that convict and condemn instead of encourage and support that do this as well.I think a term from the Bible about this is "Casting Pearls at Swine".It is using the Bibles good teaching in a negative sense therefore opening the doors to swine.People tend to turn scripture into arguement as opposed to studying it in fellowship sometimes. Some groups and churches end up becoming cult like which can also lead to this.Individuals should believe in what and how he/she wants to believe without being treated like the witches of salem.

Couldnt agree with you more, big ups for you!
All those other people are confused and their minds have been diluted by the devil and as all Christians know "the devil is a liar and a looser" so he thinks of the most stupid excuses to divert the Lord's followers.
Keep up in Faith!!!
God bless!

These bad things are often done in the NAME of religion not in the SPIRIT of religion. It is up to you as a GOOD religious person to stand up and tell your religious and political leaders to stop!!! They work for you not the other way around.
