I dunno. I have never got a Valentine's Card in the last twelve years that I've sent one, and I turned out alright. Just ask my huge collection of "Hannibal" memorabilia. Helps me to get over my ... erm ... anger. :D
And angelique, don't say that he's not an idiot. He's a man, THEY'RE ALL IDIOTS!!! (I should know......)

A card (nothing serious) and his favorite candy bars wrapped with a red ribbon. Homemade chocolate chip cookies are usually a hit as well. No clothing or cologne....too personal at this stage of the game. Dinner is something he should buy you. You don't want to over shadow what he may get you....and if he doesn't get you anything something simple is safe.

its a bit thoughtles and uncaring if he doesnt get you a card. your aims are a bit low though. you JUST WANT A CARD. id be pissed if my man turned up with just a card....
however id throw a bit of a fit and guilt him out, but i wouldnt dump him as i care about him too much. you neeed to ask yourself the same question... do you care enough to keep him? and do you think a guy who doesnt get you anything for valentines day is the way to go?

Do you only want material things from him and not love? If yes, what are you waiting for, dump him. If it is love you want, why make such an immature move. The guy might feel it is too soon for gift or he might not even believe in the valentines day.

Valentine's Day is a fake holiday invented by the Hallmark people so they can sell more cards.
If your boyfriend is treating you well and showing you through his actions that he loves you every day of the year, why dump him over a pre-printed piece of cardboard?
You need to learn to distinguish between things that are important and things that aren't.

haha... what if he does something for you, like buy you flowers, but without a card?
Well seriously, some guys may just not know you expect a card, and not all of them are romantic or sensitive to a girl's needs.
I do agree with someone else who said that it's a bit too harsh to dump him if he doesn't buy you a card.

Are you buying him one?
Because if you weren't planning to but expecting one from him, do you not think that is a bit unfair?
If you do get him one and he makes no effort I would suggest that it is a bad sign of things to come and should consider wasting any more time on a selfish guy...

its a hallmark holiday.
Does a card mean that he cares or does how you make each other feel more important? Will you get him one?
I have a feeling you will dump him card or no card
