That's lack of calcium. Drink more milk and eat foods with calcium in it. I have the same problem too.

It's from lack of moisture. Use a lotion after the shower and when you wash you hands they should get better. You might also want to try a moisturizingcuticle cream . My nails are a lot stronger
since I started using Burts bee's lemon butter cuticle creme every night. I'll include a link to the product. It 's great!
I read recently that Jello/ gelatin does nothing for your nail it is just an old advertising ploy left over.

Sorry this isn't an answer, but I'm having the same problem and I'm really glad you asked. Last night I was trying to open a heavy window and it ripped all of my nails half way off at the nailbed. Its really gross and hurts so bad. I have bandaids on all of my fingertips and I've tried some super glue as well. I hope it gets better for you!

In addition to getting more vitamins and minerals, use a good hand cream to keep your hands moisturized, especially during the winter months. You might even want to massage a drop of oil onto each nail daily. Be sure to massage the cuticles and surrounding skin.

you are lacking for sure.

i'd start to administer a multi-vitamin with minerals. also gelatin in the form of jello or gelatin caps that you can get at a drug store would help to harden your nails.
