It is unlikely that a signal booster or amplifier will improve your reception. You need a better antenna. You did not say whether you are using an indoor or outdoor antenna. If it is an indoor antenna, try the Zenith Silver Sensor. http://www.zenith.com/sub_prod/product_Display.asp?cat=&id=131
If that doesn't work, you will need an outdoor antenna.

If you have an outdoor antenna, try increasing the height and/or replacing with a good high-gain antenna such as Channel Master. For more info on antennas see http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx

If the indoor antenna does not work and you can't put up and outdoor antenna, then your only recourse is cable or satellite.
