It seems to go round in circles a bit. Someone says there is a God and someone says there isn't. Has anyone been convinced to change their opinion due to a remark made on here?

People are convinced that they can know objective truth, and as such subjectivity results in unresolvable conflict with neither side prepared to admit that there are things that not only do they not know but also can never know.

If it were more widespread that objectivity is but an idea, then discourse, rather than violent argument, would be dominant. It's not. So people take what they know to be true, find it conflicts with others and deduce ignorance. And as a result, aggressive education follows.

This site is an encouragement to those who believe that Life can be fully answered, when in fact this is not only a complete fiction but a completely destructive ideology.

Not on here but the truth is out there and I don’t mean aliens. (Someone had to make them too!). People are so confused because there are so many religions and they adopt “their religion” as if it is something they can own or use as a status symbol to make themselves feel that they are better than others. When this occurs it becomes just a ritualistic or even fanatical club that loses touch with reality and then becomes a force of destruction as just the egos of those at the helm of affairs takes over and leads to the farcical situations we see today. (e.g. How Catholics can believe that all their paedophile priests would have the power of forgiveness is beyond belief and nowhere is it recorded that telling a disciple your “sins” gives him the power to absolve you of them).

The reality is that the essence of all religions are one and present an amazing opportunity for human beings to glimpse the various aspects imparted by the creator. We would like to point you in the right direction but if a source is given people would accuse us of doing the same thing, however, all that is needed is an ability to drop any preconceived ideas one may have about God and religion and approach your spiritual development with a pure desire to know the truth. Knock and the door will be opened unto you!

No. no count if that's no longer impossible, that's no longer very superb. Your test, if the transformation got here approximately, would purely coach that that's achieveable to make it seem as though a tank replaced right into a dove, it would not coach who did it or how. in spite of each and every little thing, it might basically be somebody with an more desirable ingenuity/technologies enjoying a splash prank on you and the believers. (If no longer something happens, it basically shows that i could no longer be bothered....) If god like potential (what's the version between that and technologies?) is all it fairly is had to influence you and make you a believer, then your god is alive and nicely and dealing interior the Sony laboratories/NASA/Papworth scientific institution approximately 2 hundred years from now. Had you been around in 1808, a Boeing 747 would probable have been sufficient and convincing evidence of a deity. to boot, there is no think approximately asking purely what makes a deity, particularly ask what makes a deity worth of worship.

So many people try to prove or disprove the existence of God on this site because from all the people who comes to ask or answer a question there are people from all the world and from different religion. It has been proved that in Europe (particularly in France or England) people take less importance to religion than in America, Spain or Italy.
Moreover, there are some less people who practises their religion today than few year before... maybe because religion has no place in our modern world...
Personally, I think that if God existed he wouldn't let people kill other people or animal... there wouldn't be terrorism....
I think that Humans have created God because he needed to believe that God created him... but the fact is that Humans feel alone and don't know where they come from and where they are going to go... they are afraid by death and unknown things.

I think the reason could be that there are a lot of both American and English on this site. Most people in the UK are not actively practising a religion. and before anyone gets upset, I know a lot of people practise a religion but more don't. So possibly the debate is transatlantic, as more people in the states seem to be actively religious. It is unlikely anyone is going tohave their mind changed by somethng they have seen on here. Personally I think the debate is pointless as neither side can prove either way.

I believe in god - something had to create the big bang right? I don't believe the world was created in 6 days (on the 7th he rested) it's probably a metaphor. The bible is a tool for keeping people in line - god didn't just throw it out of the sky it was written over 100 years after the death of Christ etc.

When all hope is lost there's that feeling inside that things will get better. Maybe I just need to believe my life has a bigger meaning? But I certainly wouldn't go 'shoving my beliefs down peoples throats'. Each to their own, so why debate?

Because this is something on which everyone wants an authoritative answer - believers want a confirmation of their faith while agnostics take comfort from the fact that so many are still non-believers. Existence of God is one of the most enigmatic questions that has perplexed mankind from time immemorial. The questions put here simply generate a debate. I don't think any asker expects the issue to be resolved through Yahoo Answers.

Doubt it - for me, it's been refreshing to see so many people with the same opinion as me on this site. I guess atheists get frustrated with believers and vice versa. Wars will always be fought because of religion, it's no different here.

The reason that the topic of proving the existence of God is so rampant is because aggressive Atheists have proved dominant among Yahoo! Answers users and are trying to make fools out of those that believe in something that is beyond us.

Like most religious arguments, everyone just wants to be right. Its hardly ever about saving someone's soul or helping someone understand something about a belief, its about someone proving that their OPINION is right. I hate making words all caps, but I can't bold, italicize, or underline so...yeah. I just joined this thing and I think I'm going to avoid this category altogether after tonight. Its just annoying. =P

Roman Catholics may well be devout, Protestants staunch, Methodists strict, Atheists confirmed and Agnostics unconvinced, but only Buddhists are enlightened!
