It is good and bad!! On the one hand it is good for teeth in that it activates saliva flow thus helping to neutralise acid attacks after eating. However it is bad for your teeth if you chew lots. Because chewing can damage the teeth if they bash against one another, and also constant chewing can lead to jaw problems. However chewing occasionally can help to strenghten the jaw muscles. So basically in sum I would say chewing is good, but too much is bad!! Also if you are going to chew gum, chew sugar free gum, as gum that contains lots of sugar (e.g. Hubba Bubba) is actually bad for you.

The stuff sticks to your teeth so as you chew away it can suddenly prise free of a tooth surface. This is probably not good, as the force prising it away must be very strong in a localised area. I doubt the gum manufacturers will tell you that ! I have definitely got sore teeth from this, so now only chew gum for a short time to clean teeth when I'm out and can't wash my teeth.

Chewing gum is good for the teeth. It helps give you clean breath and also keeps your teeth clean at the same time.

as far as i am aware it is good for your teeth due to the saliva in your mouth caused by chewing the gum, but use sugar free gum

As a dentist i would say that gum is very good for you teeth as long as it is sugar free as gum activates the salivary gland

if you chew gum constantly it is bad for your teeth - it wears them away and puts strain on your jaw. Short term it can reduce plaque and decay by encouraging saliva.

BAD! Not so much for your teeth but for the rest of you.

Chewing gum is sweetened with aspartame. It will make you ill.

not good definitely; but compared to say, a candy bar, it definitely is alot better cos of the substantially lower sugar content. any food put in ur mouth needs to be cleaned, if not it will be adverse for the teeth

I'd say sugar free ones are good as they stimulate saliva production and that helps neutralise the acid in the mouth.

But then again, I'm not a dentist.
