Unless you have a medical condition or stressed all the time, the greying can't be helped. You can dye your hair to hide it or wear it without shame. One of my uncles started to go bald when he was 18, and he has distinctive white side-burn hairs. I don't think you need to worry about this too much.

Some people grow gray prematurely -- I'm one of them. I'm a red-head, and this year I started using henna. It's kind of a hassle, but it's kind of fun, too, finding the right shade and see what a difference it makes. About 10 years from now, I should be completely gray (well, actually, my mother has beautiful white hair), so I will probably let it grow out then.

MORE magazine sometimes has features about graying hair and how to choose colors for it. You have to decide if you want to put in the time and hassle and money for artificial color, or if you want to go natural. As far as I know, there's no way to reverse it.

Although . . . we had a dog that came to us last year who was completely white. After staying with us a few months, he turned into a golden dog -- very weird. But unless you are suffering from strange nutrition, or waaaaay too much stress, I don't think good food and love will do your gray hair much good. It might be worth a try, though.

Good luck and don't stress about it!

Sorry, nothing you can do to stop in--either accept it & wear it w/pride, or color, color, color!

But don't feel bad--I found my first gray when I was 16, and by 33, had inherited my mother's gray pattern (gray streaks at the temple, sprinkle thru the crown)--but I fight back--I choose to color it.

And it has been many colors over the years...everything from dark aurburn red to dark mahogany brown to a medium golden brown. (I try to stick around my "natural" color range...)

Bit of advice? Coloring your hair at home IS very easy, but I don't try to go too drastic on my own. There are many temporary or semi-permanent colors to try (they wash out over a month or less) but I leave the major changes to the professionals!

Whatever your choice--BE PROUD! Enjoy!

There's nothing you can do. There's no way to prevent it. Some people go gray sooner than others. If it bothers you, just start getting it dyed. No big deal.
