The extent of the universe's fine tuning makes the Anthropic Principle perhaps the most powerfull argument for the existence of God. It's not that there are just a few broadly defined constants that may have resulted by change. No, there are more than 100 very narrowly defined constants that strongly point to an intelligent Designer.
If the centrifugal force of the planetary movements did not precisely balalnce the gravitational forces, nothing could be held i orbit around the sun.
If the universe had expanded at the rate one millionth more slowly than it did, expansions would have stopped, and the universe would have collapsed on itself before any stars had formed.
Any of the laws of physics can be descried as a function of the velocity of the light ( now defined to be 299,792,458 metersper second ). Even a slight variation in the sped of light would alter the other constants and preclude the possibility of life on earth.
If water vapor levels in the atmosphere were greter than they are now, a runaway greenhouse effect would cause temperatures to rise too high for human life; if they were less, an insufficient greenhouse effest would make the earth too cold to support human life.
If Jupiter was not in its current orbit, the earth would be bombarded with space material. Jupiter's gravitational field acts as a cosmic vacuum cleaner, attracting asteroids ad comets tat might otherwise strike earth.
If the thickness of the earth's crust were greatr, too much oxygen would be transferred to the crust to support life. If it were thinner, volcanic and tectonic activity would make life impossible.
If the rotation of the the erath took longer than 24 hours, temperature, differences would be too great between night and day. If the rotation period were shorter, atospheric wind velocities would be too great.
The 23-degree axil tilt of the earth is just right. If the tilt were altered slightly, surface temperatures would be too extreme on earth.
If the atmospheric discharge ( lightning ) rate were greater, there would be too much fire destruction; if it were less, there would be too little nitrogen fixing the soil.
If there were more seismic activity, much more life would be lost; if there was less, nutriens on the ocea floors and in river runoff would not be cycled back to the continents through tectonic uplift ( See, even eartquakes are necessary to sustain life as we know it )
Astrophysicist Hugh Ross has calculatd the probability that these and other constants - 122 in all - would exist today for any planet in the universe BY CHANGE ( without divine design ). Assuming that there are 1 with 22 zeroes following it planets in the universe, his answer is shocking: that is one change in one with 138 zeroes after it !
There are only 1 and 70 zeroes following it atoms in the entire universe. In effect, there is ZERO change that any planet in the universe would have the life supporting conditions we have, UNLES there is an intelligent Designer behind it all : )
I hope this helps.

Intelligent Design is just creationism in disguise. It's the idea that a supreme intelligence (God) created all life. It doesn't mix evolution and creationism; ID supporters deny evolution. It's just the Biblical interpretation of how we all got here, under a different name to trick people into thinking that it's science. That's all it is.
Most Intelligent Design supporters agree that dinosaur bones are real, but they think that man and dinosaurs co-existed, which is TOTALLY untrue. And they have all sorts of crazy explanations for the fossils.

OK here goes. Favorite example of creationists. The human eye is too perfect to have evolved Therefore it existed like that from the very beginning. It was created perfect.
Evolutionists have evidence that the human eye has been developing for hundreds of millions of years to get to where it is now.
Basically creationists claim as an argument that if you take a component out of the eye(reverse engineering) the eye loses the ability to see lets say "colors" therefore this makes for a poor eye and it is no good. Evolutionist say "not seeing colors is infinitely better than not seeing at all"

Basically, it's the creation myths from the Judeo-Christian Bible (and to a lesser sense, the Islamic Qu'ran) written in a somewhat scientific sense. All instances of "God" (or similar) are removed and "the Intelligent Designer" written in place to give a somewhat vague feel to it.
It was thought up in response to evolution being taught in public schools and was thought to be able to exploit a loophole in the first ammendment by claiming to be science. Unfortunately it's not backed by any scientifically reviews paperwork and has been proven in a court of law to be Creationism "dressed up" to look like science and is now therefore pretty pointless.
Sorry it's not <=50 words. I think it's pretty easy to understand at least.

For all those who say Creation is a fairytale.
Answer these...
Did the PC evolve from the TV?
Did the Car evolve from the motorbike?
Did the Aeroplane evolve from the Helicopter?
Did the Petronas tower evolve from a hut?
When this cant happen, How can living beings which are much more complex evolve from one another.
There was much engineering, design, planning involved when the first PC was made. But then to change it from Pentium I to Pentium IV was not evolution, it was infact re-engineering, reducing scan times, re-design at the structural level which resulted in the Pentium IV chip being manufactured or lets say 'Created'
the most complex of all machines in this world, viz. the human body evolved from apes???
Dont you see the miracle of creation???

It's the belief that a white guy with a long white beard sat down and intelligently designed the Earth and it's inhabitants. What it leaves out is why an entire race (dinosaurs) existed before us. It also leaves out the mathematical certainty that there is life on other planets.

The notion that present day life exists the way it does because of the intervention of some sort of creative deity who designed species to be the way they are, as opposed to having developed by evolution. There are three problems with this: (a) evolution is quite sufficient to explain all characteristics of species; (b) evolution is a proven fact (details on request); (c) "intelligent design" is an irrefutable theory, and it is therefore provable that it is useless: it can predict nothing.

It means every organism has been exactly the way it is since the dawn of life on earth. It rebuffs the concept of evolution, or adaptation. In short, the earth's organisms were all perfectly created in a short span of time (intelligent design). Who did it? They say God. But it's possible to believe in God and in evolution at the same time.

Dear Adia Arek,
First check out Chuck Misler.
He basically supports the idea of an intelligent designer, by comparing the human being and his capacities to that of a computer or watch. When we look at the intricacies of these objects it is silly to think that a bunch of random materials came together and were conglomerated together to form a watch or computer. And when we examine human anatomy and the functions of the brain, how our body regulates itself, etc. it is hard to imagine that we are a product of the Big Bang but rather that there is an intelligent designer who created us. That's a simple gist- hope it helps.
Sorry if i slightly exceeded 50 words.
Kindly,
Nickster
