I had ghosts in my house. They were always messing with me. When Ghosts see they can get a reaction out of you they go overboard and start doing some crazy stuff!! They'd hide things on me, turn appliances on and off, throw things sometimes...I guess they scared my cat as well cause he was always hissing at the air and getting all scared and running and hidding!!
Anyway, you can't help but believe in God and spirits when something like that happens!

I have no idea what you might mean by spiritual growth. High on my list of brilliant things is Knuth's series of books: The Art of Computer Programming. The Feynman Lectures on Physics are also well up on the list.
