the saying i believe is as simple as "let sleeping dogs lie"

but i think that is what everyone is talking about

it's more about rumors (dogs), but if you awaken the rumor (dogs) it may bite you back

Startling a dog awake is a bad idea. It really can result in a bite.
What happens is when the dog is awakened suddenly, instinct for fight or flight can kick in. Since a dog that was just sleeping can't really run, the dog will be more likely to bite, until it awakens enough to realize its environment.

It is very bad if the dog happens to be dreaming when startled.

You may startle the dog a little, but it is not bad to disturb them.

The only thing that can happen is you might scare the dog and get a bite

the dog could awaken with a fright & bite you. let sleeping dogs lie, as the saying goes.

never heard that. unless i need to leave and put him in his kennel, i let him sleep. gives me some peace and quiet. he's a 8 mth old mini dach who is a beast! just kidding, but it does allow me to do some things around the house. as for waking them, maybe it just scares them.

They say that about people too. Ya know, when my little dog has nightmares, I gently touch him. It is too much for me to hear.

Well, if you scare them, they do growl and or bite...so don't scare a sleeping dog, or wake it up....
