Napoleon once said

I marvel that whereas the ambitious dreams of myself, Caesar and Alexander should have vanished into thin air, a Judean peasant -Jesus- should be able to stretch his hands across the centuries and control the destinies of men and nations.

What are your thoughts on the truth of this statement

It is true. The reason is simple.

Napoleon, Caesar and Alexander were concerned mainly with personal power. This largely ends when a person dies. Jesus was concerned with the well being of all people.

Caesar, Alexander and Napoleon did have lasting influence over the world in the way their empires impacted and shaped the world.

What do *I* think...?

That "Judean peasant" is - in fact - the Son of God Almighty Himself.
Once you see that, it's no wonder that He has such influence.

If you CAN'T see that...then THAT's a marvel...

No man has ever influenced so many people over such a long period of time as Jesus Christ has. Miracles are still occuring when the name is called upon (yes, I've seen them).

It's a platitude, basically. He's right, but not by anything more than observation.

Moses' "outstretched hand" is 1500 years longer than Jesus'.
Abraham's is even longer.
