someone is coming to clean my floors and walls tomorrow (I just moved in and the place needs some professional help) I feel akward sitting on my butt while they clean, but I don't feel trusting enough to leave them alone in the apartment with my stuff.
what would you do?

Stay. Your house is your castle, and there's no reason to be vulnerable just because you don't feel right. Maybe you could find some cleaning to do of your own or read a good book.

you could do some cleaning too, or just pretend to be busy.
Once i was helping my friend who cleaned houses but didn't feel very well that day to clean some lady's house, and we were so busy, we didn't really care what she was doing, if she is busy or idle, or if she is watching us work. I think that the workers take it as something natural that you should be watching. Why wouldn't you? it is your house and besides, you are the one who is paying.

Well, they are new people to you. You need to watch them over before you can trust them. Well, you can leave if you have a small wall camera while the surveillance is on or why not sit on your butt and talk to them casually and suggest. ;)

Stay. The feeling shows that you are humble. But you should not give people to err. Stay and have a nice talk, suggest your requirements so that they also do not feel that your are supervising them. This way you will also benefit as well as the other party.

Get busy in front of your computer like you're doing some important thing, or just do paperwork like filling up forms, paying bills etc. I also don't like to leave when strangers come to my place and I do feel guilty sitting around.

Stay you are paying them to clean, not like you are watching them you are "supervising" them.

i would leave if they are one of the good company's if the are not i will stay for sure.
