If you are going through Hong Kong (HKG), the quickest traveling time is 24 hours and 35 minutes on board Cathay Pacific. Their flight CX250 departs LHR at 18:05 and arrives in HKG at 14:05. You'll have 1 hour and 30 minutes on the ground before CX117 departs HKG at 15:35 and arriving in AKL at 07:40.

For your stop in Los Angeles (LAX), Air New Zealand flight NZ1 will take 26 hours and 20 minutes. The flight departs LHR at 14:25 and arrives in LAX at 17:55 for a total flight time of 11:30. Through Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Malaysian Airlines MH1 departs LHR at 22:00 and arrives in KUL at 18:30 for a flight time of 12 hours and 30 minutes. If you go through Seoul (ICN) the total trip time is 25:20. With Bangkok (BKK), it will be 26:45. Via Tokyo Narita (NRT) with All Nippon Airways and Air New Zealand, time will be 25:15 or Via Osaka Kansai (KIX) with Japan Airlines and Air NZ, it will be 25:05.

Of course, the actual flight time will depend on the winds, speed of the aircraft and the actual route the aircraft flies. All departure and arrival times are local.

Although not actually connected to flying time, there is another issue if you fly via LAX. You cross the international date line and this effectively loses a day going to NZ and gains a day going to the UK.
