We have right to amend those books, if they preach against our existance. After all we have banned many books and movies for showing racial discrimination.

hating for non-believers seems to be part of your belief.

This cannot go on for long, there should be some end as nazism had one.
I dont want to hurt any belief system, but, it is anti-social to preach against people.

Probably because saying you don't agree with a holy book is not the same as a book that condones racism or hate. If you can't take a jab or two, you need to live by yourself on an island. Life is tough. People are tough. Hatred is a part of life. As long as it doesn't infringe on your civil rights, people are free to say whatever they like.

How about believers who use those holy books to support their ideas of hate and bigotry? Should they be stopped? I guess as long as they're doing it in the name of religion it's ok, right?

I have never heard hatred ever preached in my experience in church. Always the opposite. Sometimes even ridiculously so. I have to take the words of the moderate Muslims that this is also true with them. Responsible religion has no danger. It is in the hands of Extremists, and those that pervert it, that is dangerous.
And hey, like Charleton Heston said, come pry the Bible out of my cold dead hands. Thats what it would take.

Your analogy isn't apt. permit's attempt it this way: You: The bomb is falling on Oct.18th, all and sundry evacuate. human beings rush around like loopy, yet they evacuate the section in time. Then the bomb fails to drop. After the bomb scare, that's what you would be able to assert: You: nicely, no guy would comprehend the hour or the day, yet have faith me, that bomb is going to drop quickly. Evacuate. Others: Yeah, yeah, that's what you mentioned final time. Wacko. You: do no longer scoff like the sinners scoffed at Noah. it sluggish is coming. Others: while? You: 2012, some think of. Others: Yeah yeah, that's what you mentioned approximately 2000. in certainty, have not you human beings been looking forward to this bomb for 2000 years, from the time the bomb replace into first lifted interior the heavens above us. You: i'm attempting to maintain you out of love. Others: And what if we don't choose to be saved? what's going to take place? You: nicely, i'm going to shop attempting to cajole you, even to the factor of actually getting into your face approximately it, yet have faith me, that's on your man or woman solid.

I've actually never heard of any nonbelievers spreading hate. Some are rude, yes but, a full on ban or hatred of these books, I've never heard of. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just because it doesn't jive with yours, it doesn't mean it should be silenced. As long as those hateful words don't turn into hateful actions, let it go.

The reason, Nicole, that non-believers care what some book that they don't believe has to say is because it still impacts on our lives - we can't choose to extract ourselves from its influence. My 10 year old daughters public school has just acquired the services of a counsellor who is also a pastor - that is a school service now incorporated in all public schools in Australia. Christianity is also infiltrating and influencing the government system. I can't even buy a coffee at a local chain coffee house (Gloria Jeans - similar to America's Starbucks) without contributing to the coffers of a hugely corporate religion here called Hillsong.

The problem is - I can choose to not have religion in my life but I cannot choose to not have it AFFECT my life!

first, you might want to take an english class before you start with the allegations, secondly you might want to get your facts straight, we as the us claim to live be a protestant nation, obviously there are many contradictions by open actions but just because we so called "shove" our faith onto other people, does not give you the right to compare it to racism, they're not the same. and btw, if you've ever wondered WHY we are so persistent in sharing our faith, it's because God said to, "go out and share the gospel with the human kind", now i don't know about you, but considering God can do anything, i'd rather piss YOU off by sharing the faith, then piss GOD off by not sharing.

good luck ! the wolf in sheeps clothing is nothing new either yet I suspect they prefer blood to peace under the lip service .
Evil is nothing if not for the lame onlookers who do nothing but remain calm on both sides of the fence.

And BTW The only rights you have are the ones you take for yourself or that others give you.
