You've got nothing to worry about Dane. Rear projection CRT units such as yours have a distinct advantage over the latest 'High Tech' sets such as LCD and DLP in that they have NO such bulbs as a light source. They do have three color projectors or 'guns' which are responsible for image display but as most CRT RPTVs last well past the 10 year(15 being quite common) you really shouldn't have any need to replace them at any time during your sets usable lifespan.

What's happened is that you've mistakenly gotten caught up in the hype (or mass hysteria if we want to be accurate) that those unfortunate enough to have purchased the 'Latest and Greatest' are now experiencing. Imagine paying all that money for a set only to have to shell out $200-$300 every couple of years to keep it's bulbs all bright and shiny, highway robbery if you ask me!

Lucky for you that you've got the set you have as it should offer a top notch picture long after this latest generation of TV Tech is dead and buried and the new 'New Tech' is debugged and affordable. With SED on the horizon you should be perfectly positioned to need an entirely new set at just about the time this holographic wonder has reached perfection so consider yourself lucky and watch whatever, whenever without fear. Hope that clears things up a bit. Good luck and happy viewing.
