According to the Bible it was to wipe out the evil. But obviously evil still found its way into the Noah Gene pool. Why did God evoke the great deluge if evil was still going to manifest itself? Surely as an all-knowing God, he would of foreseen this outcome.

IF YOU READ THE GENESIS ACCOUNT, THE EARTH WAS INDEED FILLED WITH VIOLENCE. REBELLIOUS ANGELS CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND MADE BABIES WITH HUMAN WOMEN. THIS CREATED THE NEPHILIM, OR MIGHTY MEN, WHO WERE VIOLENT AND CRUEL BULLIES, WITH SUPER NATURAL STRENGTH.

GOD INSTRUCTED NOAH TO BUILD THE ARK FOR THE FLOOD, WHICH TOOK 40 YRS! MEANWHILE HE WOULD PREACH TO THE PEOPLE ABOUT THE COMING FLOOD, OF COURSE NO ONE BELIEVED HIM, AS IT HAD NEVER EVEN RAINED BEFORE.

SO THE PEOPLE HAD 40 YRS. TO TURN AROUND AND BE SAVED. AS WE KNOW SADLY, ONLY NOAH AND HIS FAMILY WERE SAVED.

OF COURSE, HE DID NOT DESTROY THE EARTH. ONLY THE WICKED. HE DIDN'T ONLY DO IT TO DESTROY EVIL, BUT ALSO, TO PRESERVE RIGHTEOUSNESS.

NOW, AS AN ALL KNOWING GOD, YES HE DID FORSEE THE OUTCOME. NOAH WAS NOT PERFECT, SO HE WOULD OF COURSE PRODUCE MORE IMPERFECT OFFSPRING. HOWEVER, HE KNEW HE HAD TO PRESERVE THE FAMILY LINE FOR JESUS TO COME DOWN THROUGH.

ALSO, JUST BECAUSE GOD CAN FORSEE EVERYTHING IN THE FUTURE, DOESN'T MEAN HE DOES. IF YOU HAD THE POWER TO LIFT 10 TON BOULDERS, WOULD YOU DO THAT "EVERY TIME" YOU CAME ACROSS ONE? OF COURSE NOT.

HOWEVER, THAT DOESN'T MEAN HE DOES THINGS HALF HAZARDLY. FOR HE IS PERFECT AND JUST. HOPE I HELPED.

AN EXAMPLE IS FOUND IN REV.22:17. THOSE WHO CHOSE LIFE, HAVE A CHOICE...THAT CHOICE CANCELS OUT A FORORDINATION BY GOD.

BY SAYING THAT GOD FORORDAINS THINGS, JUST BECAUSE HE "CAN" FORSEE THINGS, WOULD BE LIKE SAYING HE CAUSED WICKEDNESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. THAT HE SET US HUMANS UP FOR FAILURE. BUT GOD IS GOOD, AND CAN DO NO EVIL.

BUT GOD IS A GOD OF LOVE. AND BY MEANS OF OUR RANSOM, JESUS CHRIST, HE WILL CORRECT ALL EVILNESS ON EARTH. PS.37:9-11.

The evil thing was just a smokescreen. God is a man of logic. Even way back then he saw that mankind was going to over populate and he had just plumb forgotten to put enough water on the planet. A miscalculation on his behalf. Solution? Tame the overpopulation for a little while and add more water to the planets natural recourses by this great flood idea. Problem was that Noah was an incredibly good boat builder but not good at keeping secrets. If God told him the truth Noah would have told everyone and they would have got mad. This way Noah thought that everyone else was evil and he was good, and so became an unsocial hermit building boats in his yard. If Noah existed today he would be classed as paranoid, and God as mischievious.

You are right evil has still found it's way into the Noah Genre pool, it is because Noah stil was imperfect the imperfect gene didn't get wiped out, and Noah still could only pass on imperfection as could his sons and daughters in law. Yes God is all knowing and he has forseen this out come, but at that time he did not set that time to end Satan's freedom to prove his wicked charges yet, so he allowed more time foir satan to prove his wicked chargesagainst God and humankind, but now the time has come when satan has had enough time to prove his ways would workand it is now the time that God will step in and bring about his promised blessings to his people and wipe out all evil wickednes death sorrow mourning and tears will be gone very soon, if God had not brought the deluge about can you imagine what the world would be like now since at that time it was already very evil, evil enough to be removedjust as it is now the deluge did accomplish some filtering out of evil and it did, but at this time of the end, coming in a short time now God will wipe out all wickedness and all evil will be removedso that his people can truly live in peace and security, this is something that only God can accomplish, and he will do so through his son Jesus Christ who is already preparing for this important event!

The flood was definitely used to wipe out bad people. The Bible describes that particular time in history as being particularly violent, with the hybrid children of angels and women roaming the earth. Bad people resurfaced in Noah's line because he was still an imperfect man, and his offspring would be too. The Bible says that "all things were written aforetime for our benefit," so, this is just one more example in the Bible that serves as a warning for all of us today.

Hi!!!

The purpose of the Great Flood, wasn't to wipe out the evil.
It was to wipe out all the people that were following and doing the evil things!!!

Because GOD saw that after HE help the people the still were NOT praying and giving the importance that HE deserves, as GOD, He punish them, with the Great Flood.

GOD then promised never to punish us with another Great Flood. And the rainbow is the sing or reminder to us from GOD,
of this promise!!!

To be quite honest I think the Great Flood was also created in order to give a link to what would happen near the end of the world. Eventually near the end times wickedness will abound and only few number of believers will be left on the face of the planet. At that time God will destroy the universe not with a flood but with fire and judgment will then come upon wickedness.

In the Bible God creates the great flood to punish the evil people, not necessarily to wipe out all evil. He doesn't express a desire that no evil will emerge again after the flood. He does it out of anger and frustration. After the flood, he promises never again to do such a thing.

There was no purpose for the Flood. It was a natural event that decimated Sumerian civilization around 2300 BC. Later historical accounts sought to justify the downfall of Sumerian civilization as the will of the God Enlil, who was punishing the Sumerians for their lack of piety. The authors of the two Flood accounts in Genesis followed suit, and added commentary that was intended to justify the event.

[The Bible, in the Hebrew, does not imply a universal Flood. The text can just as easily describe a local event.]

Listen to Utuk. That's the true story. The Antarctic ice cap softened due to global warming, and slid into the sea. This caused massive flooding until it eventually re-froze. It was a natural occurrence, and has been falsely attributed to the Yahweh god. It can easily happen again, with global warming what it is. If both ice caps melted, we'd be almost totally swamped, just like in the movie, "Waterworld"!

I think it was meant as more of a warning. After the event, he/she must have felt pretty bad about it, for me said that the rainbow was a promise that he would never end the earth by flood again. Ultimately, we all have the right to choose to do right or wrong, but according to the Bible, that is what his son died for, the right to ask for forgiveness and actually receive it, without killing an animal. Hope this helps, not sure any of us actually have the "right" answer. Good luck.
