All those who answer this question in YES, are hypocrites. If given a chance, all these people will indulge in the same act.
In my view, its not at all unfaithful to your partner if you do sex on IM. Psychological studies show that a person is always curious about sex with many persons. Different people have different sorts of fantasies. Sex on IM provides them a platform to fulfill their fantasies without getting involved physically with the other person.
Also these fantasies will teach such persons to give their partners more sexual satisfaction. Sex on IM opens such persons to a vast scope of methods to fulfill the needs of your partner.

Yes, it counts as being intimate with someone who isn't your partner... doesn't matter if its typed out, spoken over the phone or had in the back of a car. Its still cheating.

Who cares about the definition of cheating and whether cyber sex counts? It's completely irrelevant. Does your boyfriend get upset? Does it hurt his feelings? If it does, equivocating about definition of cheating doesn't make the hurt any less, does it? Would you get upset if your boyfriend or husband has cyber sex with strangers on the internet?
