Not to get into a whole lot of detail...but I heard it once preached that Noah's family could possible have been the only family that had pure blood in them that was not tainted with the "daughters of the land"
So it could very well be that it was not that they were necessarily "good" but possibly the only family with a clean lineage that Jesus could come through.

Noah and his sons spent eighty years building that Ark. From the cutting of the trees to the final wooden plug.
In all that time, Noah preached to the people about a coming disaster. Noah did not know it would be a flood. Because the earth at that time had not experienced rain. Everything was watered by a mist that rose up in the morning.
(Genesis 2:6) But a mist would go up from the earth and it watered the entire surface of the ground.
The Bible says nothing more about earthly conditions until AFTER man was created.
We all know that rain comes from cloud. therefore, the earth would have been covered by a cloud canopy. Similar maybe to the atmosphere of Venus.
When the rain started, and did not stop, it would have had to come from a solid cloudy, and certainly not clear, sky.
There possibly were other good people on the earth. Noah would not have permitted his sons to marry girls from unsuitable families.
And look at what Jesus said about it.
(Matthew 24:36-39) “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37Â For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38Â For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39Â and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.
Living a normal life but TAKING NO NOTE...

I don't have my Bible handy to see if 8 is the correct number but I do know that the number did consist of Noah, his wife and their sons and their wives. It is sad but it is true. You are correct, there probably was some newborn kids and young children who could have been saved. But their parents(if they were not worth saving and essentially thought Noah was crazy) would not have let them go with what they deemed to be a crazy man. So those kids perished because of the lack of knowledge of their parents. Just like it is today. When people bash God, they also deprive their kids of the knowledge of Him as well. May God Bless U.

It is possibale that just because we only heard this story there are not other that we did not hear about.
It has been proven by science that the flood did not cover the whole earth. That is was just centered to where Noah was, So we might believe that there were others that God saved.
I believe very much in the bible and the things that are in it but also think of things that are not in it.

According to the story, there were no babies. It's a curious omission. We don't know if it's because no one wanted them or if they were there and just not mentioned.
Noah and his wife had none, and there were three other married couples, and none of them had any.
The only baby we know of belonging to these 4 couples was Arphaxshad, born 2 years after the flood.

The whole story is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I remember even when I was a little kid I didn't believe it.

They were given the chance to change but they did not care. They did not worshipe God instead they worshiped pagan gods. and did what was bad in Gods eyes. jThey were also warned just like ppl today are being warned and as history repeats itself they do not care.

your god is cruel, he is no better than Satan
“… kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But keep alive for yourselves all the young girls who have not known a man intimately…” (Numbers 31: 17-18)
“Then I also will walk contrary to you in fury, and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters…” (Lev.26:28-29)
“Shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it?” (Amos 3:6)
“ And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together,… I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.” (Jer.13:14).
