I just read several scriptures in the bible that condone killing of women and homosexuals. Not to mention, it is a completely masculine and sexist religion. It says that women are born sinful, giving birth is sinful, and the infant is considered sinful because it was born of a sinful mother. The bible also, completely condones polygamy, rape, and incest. Its nothing but men having many wives, daughters sleeping with their fathers, and cousins marrying. And here are the scriptures to prove it.
Genesis 19:32 (incest)
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
Deuteronomy 22:23-24 (rape)
If a betrothed virgin is raped in the city and doesn't cry out loud enough, then "the men of the city shall stone her to death."
Leviticus 20:13 (killing gays)
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

I am not picking on Christians. I am simply pointing out these scriptures and wondering why people still believe in it and base their lives on it?

Exactly. Its why I think its all crap. Its condones the worst behavior of mankind.
Notice them ignoring it. Even as you posted it. They say it doesn't apply today. But, if those don't apply, then why would being gay be such a problem? Why would abortion be such a problem?
I don't think they know what they object to. They only object when it suits them to do so.

All of those were in the old testament, under the old law. The world was a far different place back then and much more brutal. The new law, Christianity, doesn't practice those things. I'm sure that there is some denomonation out there that might practice the old law...maybe not to the extreme consequences, but yeah, I've not heard of them.
Most Christians today follow the teachings of Jesus in the New testament and the established churches by the apostles. The letters from Paul to various churches are also good references to what the New Law includes. I'm fairly certain that they deal w/ things differently now.

Genesis 19:32:The Bible records it,it does not condone it.
Deuteronomy 22:23-24:Interestingly enough,my translation says "and he sleeps with her" as in consensual sex,not rape.
Leviticus 20:13:"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her" -Jesus,John 8:2-11,
The Torah is also part of Judaism too.

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:11-14" That is the reason we believe. We don't believe in the religion, we believe in Jesus christ.
What was written in the Bible, the sins that people have made were not condone, those people were punished for their actions. Stop believing what you want to believem, those where laws and the people were put to death. The Lord's Grace has replaced the law and now you have time to turn from your evil ways, repent and ask God for forgiveness. God says he doesn't like gayism and he will not change his mind about it. When people act in a sinful way it's not God's fault, it's neither the Bible's fault so stop making it seem like God is evil. God bless.

First of all, the story of incest that you refer to from the Bible does not condone the actions of Lot's daughters. It simply says that it happened. In fact, not far from the verse you quote from Leviticus condemning homosexuality is one that discusses that incest is not appropriate. (See Lev. 18:6-18) And the examples of Deuteronomy and Leviticus refer to the law of the land at the time, not necessarily God's laws for his people. You can't simply take one verse from the Bible and not pay attention to the things surrounding it. I don't believe in taking the Bible literally and have no problem with Biblical criticism, but it should be done appropriately by viewing all the facts.
However, being a Christian, I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I don't personally give alot of thought to the Old Testament. Many other people of faith would be appalled at this idea, but its personally how I feel.
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love [his] neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."
Mark 12:29-33
That's what Christianity is based on for me ... not some esoteric passages about whether or not its okay to sleep with your father.
