This stimulates the blood and lymphatic systems, encouraging oxygen and nutrients to deliver around the body more quickly as well as reducing any build up of lymphatic fluid and toxins in the tissues.

Any massage must be done in a certain direction to promote the flow of blood back to the heart.
If having just a facial massage, it is to help not to tear the tissue inappropriately. Make sure they are not massaging too hard, also.

Massage involves applying pressure to targeted body parts. We usually apply pressure towards the heart as this aids the blood circulation in the body by bringing the blood faster to the heart where it obtains oxygen to be distributed around the body again.

To promote circulation which reduces swelling. You don't want swelling in your face if you want beauty.
