Does anyone else think Paris would look hot in a bonnet? How would Tom Cruise look with those ZZTop beards?

It is not just a matter of becoming "attached" to material things. We need many of those things. Medical innovation and science, for example. Educated people have their place in the world. We are talking about a religion here. Some people believe in giving up everything and living in a cave. We'd all go back to being cavemen. It takes all kinds of people to make up a world. Amish people need the modern world, yet they shun it.

But what would we do without Yahoo Answers?!?!
Bonnets and carriages are cute, but I would miss surfing mindlessly for celebrity gossip, pointless facts and obscure statistics while I was supposed to be working. Don't think that I could sneak an iMac in to the barn to surf while I milk ole Bessy

I could never accept that life style, but I have tremendous respect for those that do. The Amish leave other people alone. They don't try and force their beliefs down the throats of others. There are worse things then the Amish.

My gut-instinct response was - NO WAY. but in the time it has taken me to respond, I would say that many of their lifestyle choices would definately solve some of our environmental issues. Perhaps not too far down the track there won't even be a choice.

No, I read a book about a girl who escaped from the Amish people. They are cult like, are bullies and brutal to live among. They are very weird and that whole thing about them not using technology is bull$hit. They use it all the time in loophole ways. Like they hire others to drive them around. It's awful, so no thank you.
