He's 10 years old, last week he began getting this rash all over his stomach, chest and back, it's red and kinda rough feeling, the only way I know how to describe it in appearance is it has a "whisker burn" look to it. He says that it doesn't burn or itch. But I've given him Benedryl anyway, and it has no affect. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks!

I should also add that he has had no fever at all, and the skin where the rash is, which is ALL over his chest, stomach and back, is pretty dry.

Thanks for everyone's advice. As it turns out we believe the rash came from a comforter he had been using, he mentioned that it didn't bother him until he laid on the bed. So I took it off the bed, and it's been 3 days now, and it's almost gone off his back, and started to fade from his stomach and chest. So we'll see. Thanks again, I'll leave it to you guys to choose a best answer!!

It sounds like a viral rash that most of the time clears up on its own. I would have him checked out by a pediatrition. I wouldnt necceccerally take him to the ER.

Without seeing the rash there is not way to know what the rash might be. Take him to urgent care or ER and get this checked out in case it is something contagious.

could be shingles, but that happens mostly in older people. Definitely see a doctor, soon as possible.

Might be an allergic reaction or might be roseola (mild case of measles)
