Dear Saint Nearly,
i think there are two reasons:
1) Not everyone on this site who claims to be a Christian truly is. And not everyone who is offering an opinion on the Bible (have truly studied it in its context) and so often explanations are taken out of context. i've read responses where people say things which are so out of line with what God teaches- and they claim they are speaking from the Bible etc.
2) People are at different places in their maturity with God. I think many believers have good intentions and they can speak the truth (but do so without love). The Bible teaches for people to speak the truth with love (Ephesians 4:15) and to season words with grace (Colossians 4:5-6).
*Some "Christians" on this site have justified it because people who don't believe in God can be crude or what not (And Christians equally so). But Christ teaches not to repay evil for evil - and when Jesus was on the cross- he endured and took it- and i think on yahoo answers it says a lot that so many people are offended by Christianity. It doesn't make what God teaches not true- it says a lot that many of God's messengers have perhaps not shared His love in the right way. i'm not making excuses or in a place to judge who is or who is not a Christian (but like you i can judge fruit.) If you claim the name of Christ, you ought to love others with the kind of love that Christ has loved you with.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

I don't know, people communicate in different ways. I haven't read your other questions.
You say, "but they excuse and accept anything that God does or says, some of which is immature and irrational." I would argue that without some sort of ultimate judge or creator there is no such thing as irrational behavior, it's all subjective and left to each individual.
No Ultimate Judge = No Absolute Judgments.
Irrational by today's standards? Wait 200 or 600 years and those standards might change.
Often times people don't like to have these types of discussions so they insult the other point of view and move on.

well for the most part questions are posed in such a way that is disengenuous by being asked not because of a genuine inquiery upon the question being asked but rather displayed in such a way that the questioner believes he/she has found the ulitimate end of validity for Christianity based on the ability for anyone to give an answer acceptable to the host of the question. nontheist use this sight to advocate intolerance towards believers all in the name of a higher tolerance agenda called rationalism. Hate is hate no matter what the color of the package it comes in

That's a good question...why do people go off on the asker rather than answer the questions? I recently asked a couple of questions and some of the people were trying to tell me not to worry about the question and do something else. I ask questions that I already have my own ideas about...and want to know what others believe...I am not asking questions from the people who respond on here for the sake of learning Biblical truth...no way! I can read my Bible for that. Some of my questions I ask to see who will get upset by my question....

Some people are offended for God as if that is necessary.
Some people are insecure in their religion and are without knowledge so you bring them to the lowers common denominator which is anger and violence.
And others are not sure what your point is at all except to bash God for all of mans faults, as if God is a man with faults.
But above all things you must always remember all fighting and wars started in Heaven; Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
the first fight were to brothers Cain and Abel, one was stronger and won and life is no different today, if your God is not the correct one you will fight and kill for him anyways. Just like Cain did.

Good question (and I gave you a star by the way)! I don't know how to answer it though as I usually fit into the catagory of the "thumbs down" when I answer any questions regarding god. Maybe I'll see what happens when I ask a question. Actually I did earlier on, and I got insulted, rather than receive an answer from a believer. In fact, some have gone so far as to send me e-mails to tell me how much they dislike my answers.

First, people often pick a scripture out of context and try to slam Christianity and Christians in some cute semantics game. No honest discussion begins this way. Sometimes people get fed up with these questions and answer in ways that are not right. Sometimes people "pretending" to be Christians or who have attend church maybe twice respond in disrespectful ways.
I am not sure of the root question you are asking, but here is a guide that may help you some. First Jesus Christ and His teachings are what Christianity is based on. While Christians view the OT as truth, we understand that it is often narrative. We also know that the mains issues of faith are found in Christ teachings.
I think it is a funny statement to say God is immature or irrational, you seem to have a bias against God, which may be fully reflected in your questions. People get frustrated at questions that are misrepresentations or caustic in nature, or that draw assumptions. I would be happy to try to answer some of your questions, but understand a wry retort may be in order from time to time. Good luck on your quest and God's blessings on you.

Look at the answers your getting. Just try to remember the old saying “Never discuss religion or politics.” To which I say “So do you think Jesus was a Demarcate or a Republican? To heck with politically correctness. Just remember if it is your religion ask a priest or rabbi or what have you. But if it’s not and you are seeking information on a particular religion go to that kind of church, don’t just do go asking the people going there. The people go to worship. Not to make your mind up for you, only you can do that.

The answers one sees in this forum represent a triumph of flippancy over rigor. Those that answer tend to have not formally studied the matters being asked, rather they enjoy mocking or proving that they really have no value to add to the answer.
Sadly, the questions are sometimes poorly formed or are laden with underlying bias that tells the reader that no cogent and rigorous answer will satify the asker.
Just keep asking questions in an objective manner and you will sometimes get useful responses. I try to answer questions so structured with reasoned and rigorous responses.

I understand where you are coming from. This same line of thought can be applied to just about any discussion wher the other party is not very well informed. This is a prime example of where knowledge meets belief. When I am attacked personally when having a discussion, I consider myself the winner.
