It's gastroesophageal. It's depends on how severe a refluxer you are. It may be that only prescription meds can alleviate this for you. If your reflux is mild, OTC antacids may be enough. Unless you've diagnosed yourself, your doctor has already discussed with you an appropriate treatment.

A word of warning, don't try to treat this yourself with home remedies or even OTCs if they are inappropriate for your specific case. Over time GERD can erode the esophagus, cause varices (varicose veins that can bleed), esophageal bleeds, esophageal ulcers or esophageal cancer.

It is best to get a medical diagnosis. I also thought I had G.E.R.D, but after having a gastroscopy, it was discovered that my problem was a hiatal hernia. Now I am not permitted caffeine or chocolate, must sleep with head elevated and eat small meals throughout the day. Best advice...see ur doctor.

Go to your doctor to treat this. It may be a G.E.R.D. look-a-like, or if it is GERD, then it can lead to erosion and thats not correctable unless you get this treated fast.

You really need to treat this medically because if you let it go untreated it can cause espophogeal erosion which is very very serious. My dad has espophogeal erosion and can never take aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen any more because of the damage that is done. Consider treating it medically.

Try eating bread! Just bread straight out of the bag. My mom has terrible acid reflux at night and I told her to try this and it works well for her.
