Why not try Vermeer's paintings? They captured the style of art and life in Delft during his time.

"Guernica" by Pablo Picasso. It was created out of Picasso's horror of the Nazi bombing of Gernika, Spain in 1937. The entire city was bombed and hundreds if not thousands of people died from it. It is a very inspirational and moving painting. I was so moved by it that I did a 30 page research paper on just the paintings meaning in college. Here is a link for it that would be of great help.

Guernica - Picasso. I did this for my History of Art A level - and loved everyminute of it ! Hope it is not too common for you ! Picasso is a great artist to talk about, and aside from the impact of Guernica, his impact on people's lives - including his family !
