er.. vocal.

why would you need vocal prayer anyway? cant you pray silently on your own.. since most christians(or other religions) personally pray by themselves wherever they are, dont they get "protection" that way? this is really retarded you know.

Prayer isn't completely gone in schools.

There was Prayer at the Poll, where all the Christians would gather in the front lawn of the school and shoot people who didn't come and pray with them evil glares.
Prayers before a performance.
And so on.

And also, there's a moment of silence every morning, so if they choose to take their time to pray, the students can do so. If they would like to just reflect on the day ahead, the students can do so.
If they just want to catch one more wink of sleep, the students can do that.

Now, it's not enforced, so prayers that take place in school are more genuine.

I think what's really interesting is what would result if they got their wish. It's only a matter of time before it then becomes which prayer is in schools. A lot of fundamentalists miss the point.....freedom of and FROM religion is designed to protect them from one another. Since we'll never agree on exactly what prayer should be heard in schools, it's better that NO prayer be heard in schools.

For the record....I fully support rights of self gratification in school lobster....so long as I get to watch.

...Kids should be allowed to pray and those who don't want to could opt out if they wish - whole classes should not be prevented or penalized because of the wishes of one or two students.
...Breed hate and discrimination? Bunk. In my 4th grade class, we had a Jewish kid (I was Protestant but not a true believer in Christ at that time) and he shared about his faith in our class assembly, of all places. We did not have to pray Jewish prayers.
And if we did, so what?
...In my 6th grade class, we prayed the Lord's Prayer every morning before class, in violation the Supreme Court ruling. No one was ever hurt by doing that.
...Does anyone have any statistics, i.e., total number of students in the U.S. who have been damaged by prayers in school, or by the prayers of others in school? I imagine the ACLU has the most recent figures.
...Kids and adults alike need to be taught that the world does not revolve around them - sometimes they just need to bear it - it is part of living in an adult world. They need to put away their selfishness and learn to serve others.

Let me ask what will you do when the islamic head bangers demand 5 prayer times at public schools? Will you cave under the typical moronic American self hating got to give in to the minorities mentality and ignore the home grown?

Lets compromise. Prayer in schools for evolution taught in Church. Deal?

Didn't Jesus say in Matthew 6:6, that when you pray to not be seen by men, but to go in your closet, close the door, and pray in secret? Why do Christians insist on ignoring Jesus' teachings?

The Christian life is a prayer. Saying words without some structure is not necessary.

The Lord's prayer is certainly offensive, isn't it.
All the talk of humbleness, prayers, forgiveness and such?

ya, that's tuff, i don't think so. they should have a special area if christians want to meet and pray. forcing it on people will only push people away.

When vocal voluntary prayer is restored to US public schools we will see a dramatic drop in violence both in schools and in the public sector at large.
