Well you have two options; either tell him the truth, or keep it to yourself...

Consider why you felt you had to lie in the 1st place..

Then explain it to him why you lied, and that it was only one time. I'm sure he won't be too unreasonable.

But then again.... how will he even know?!

Its completely up to you on this one, if you can't face living the lie, just tell him, if it doesn't bother you all that much, just keep it to yourself.

I say just be honest, especially if it was just brought up once or twice. What happens if you're in a serious relationship for a quite a while and he finds out then? Easier to learn now than way down the road.

You can say you got scared of how he might see you as a person so you said the first thing to came to mind, mention it was once and not good so you don't like to count it because you want your real first time to be with someone you really care about.

I'm assuming he's a virgin and hence why he asked or however it came up. If you were to tell it like up above here then he's not going to feel inadequate or like he is competing to be bad or good.

You can't hide the fact that you're not a virgin. Why not try to be honest with him? If he cares about you, he'll understand. Personally, I wouldn't be understanding. A lie is a lie no matter how small it is. Lying about the number of sexual partners you've had is not a small thing though. I wish you luck, and next time, try to be honest.
