The older I get it seems to me that men are more interested in dating a women only if she looks good and intelligence is a bonus as opposed to being the most important thing. I am 35 years old and a high school teacher studying for my masters degree in history and when I tell men that they seem not want another date. So, here is the question, I am wondering if men are afraid of intelligent woman dislike intelligent women?

Me, I love intelligent women, I love being able to carry a conversation, I love learning. I love it all.

I don't think it's an issue of looks over brains. I think some men are scared women will be able to see right through their ******** because they're too smart to pass it off on them.

Also not to be rude, but sometimes it's not brains or whatever that is the turn off to men. I mean I don't know you personally and I mean no disrespect but it can be a lot of things and maybe it's easy to blame brains in the end.

I think this is a really cool discussion though I'd like to pursue if you wanted to IM me sometime. I guess I'm interested in more opinion on this. Thx

In my crowd of friends, we not only want but need an intelligent woman. Someone who's known a wonderful friend and daughter, well educated, empathetic..etc. Basic biology...plant a potato, get a potato. Dim witted parents usually yield dim witted children. As a teacher, I'm sure you see those results daily.

There's nothing LESS attractive than a conventionally physically attractive woman who's not bright. A girl who replies to a question requiring communication between more than two brain cells with a vapid smile and a deer-in-the-headlights look isn't bring-home-to-Mom material.

As far as dating and marriage, one needs looks too. I truly don't care what any one else thinks as long as I am drawn by physical attraction on at least some level. No way around that. We're hardwired with a few million years of biology that I enjoy, and make no apologies for. Nothing is more alluring than a poised, sharp, bright and beautiful woman. My favorites? Anne Archer, Penelope Cruz, Grace Kelly, and of course Audrey Hepburn. Alyssa Milano was up there as well, then the poor thing opened her mouth to speak...it was down hill from there.

Eleanor Roosevelt is on my mind because of a recent movie. Any way, she's portrayed as a wonderful woman, but to be romantically involved with her?? Ah....to save the human race perhaps, perhaps. So, while I respect and admire her, to me this is the clearest illustration that balance is required.

If this were true then you would be bored by such a man...so you might consider yourself lucky if those guys who didn't call back were frightened by your intelligence. I would suggest your first approach might be to learn to love and honor yourself. If you can truly love yourself, accept yourself as you are without judgment, then you will find othes who will honor you for what and who you are. And you will only choose those who honor you. Don't worry about that men want, the kind of man you want will be attracted to you if you are already attracted to yourself. If you can't love you, who else can? So love yourself and you will find a man you can respect and love, and who is even intelligent.

i might not be typical, but i personally cannot deal w/ a woman if i dont think shes intelligent. im 21, and everytime i have feelings for a woman shes usually about 5 years older then i am, girls my age just seem really immature and dont know what the worlds all about. so dont worry, even though alot of guys are after the ditsy moron type, theres guys out there who really respect what you got goin on in between your ears.

This is a bit wierd. I am your age and also a Teacher. ..lol. In my experience many men are just intimidated by intelligent women. Like they should be the smart one of the couple. Not all men are like that though.....I have a gf who is a college grad....married to a HS dropout.....and surprisingly they get along famously..............

I want an itelligent woman. Someone I can connect with on a deep level. I do need to be physically attracted to a woman, but we need to talk about things that are more important to life.

I love them but some of them act too cocky or stuck up. As long as they do not fall into that category, I love them.
