The only thing washing it will do is make your scalp sensitive when it is colored. If you do wash it do not rub or scrub your scalp. I have washed my hair and that was all that happened the color was fine. They do not wash your hair before if they did they would have to dry it because you do not color wet hair. All they may do is spray it a little bit. I know because i went to cosmetology school. I'm sorry most of these ppl do not know what they are talking about. Wash or not it is OK.

Depends on the brand of hair colour. Some call for unwashed hair, some say wash your hair first. Always check to see what the box says. If you're ever in any doubt, the rule I follow is if it's only a day after washing my hair it's fine. Any longer and generally I give it a quick once over with a shampoo just to remove any build up. If you do wash your hair before you put your hair colour on, it's always a good idea to dry it first with a hair dryer, that way you won't be bothered by those irritating little drips that get all over the house lol! Hope this helps

They say not to wash if you are doing a home treatment, cause it washes out the natural oils in the hair and scalp and the scalp could become irritated with the chemicals. Since you are going to a salon, you should have no issues as theya re supposed to be professional and know what they are doing. Unlike the other answer you received from a hair stylist!!

The person doing your hair coloring will wash it for you, regardless if you've done it yourself beforehand.
I had this happen the first time I had professional highlights done. I'd washed my hair at home to save on the time, but the hairdresser did it again.
So just leave it alone & enjoy a shampooing & conditioning with some really great smelling products tomorrow. I hope your coloring turns out great.

You can wash it before, that's fine, just don't wash it for two days after to let the color set in.

Most definantly!
You must wash your hair before you colour it because if it's not clean and then you put in the colour there will be little particles stuck onto your hair which could cause loss of hair and split ends.
GOOD LUCK! :)

the only reason u shouldn't wash ur hair is bcuz the dye is going to burn ur scalp but other than that it really doesn't matter but common if ur hair is dirty than just do ur hair dresser the favor and wash it

As I know, you should mot wash your hair before you grt it colered, it will not help at aall, and I think it will make your hair dry.. so just put thr color, leave it for 30 mins and then wash it...

Where ever you heard that they are wrong. You are supposed to wash your hair before your appointment so the colour sticks better.
