I guess there are two factors to consider. One, the recon possibilities of being in the proximity of the activity you have noticed. On the other hand ,if the party(ies) you are investigating are at the party, I am not sure you would want them to connect your gf to you.

If you are an investigator, I'm surprised how vague your question was.
As a former criminal defense investigator, your credibility is your livelihood, so to speak. If you went to this party and illegal things occured and people were charged, then you lost your credibility and you will not be useful if you are ever needed to testify in court.
If it's just a bad neighborhood, but your gf's family are moral and not breaking any laws, then go.
Your question is odd.

Why are you dating this girl when it appears you have concerns she or her family may be involved in "suspicious activities"? If you are undercover and she knows what you do this may blow your cover and your investigation. If her family is involved and knows what you do, you still run the same risk of blowing your cover and your case. I find it difficult to believe you are actually an investigator...if you are then what you are considering is foolish at least and possibly even a conflict of interest.

I don't see any problems if it has nothing to do with your GF's family party. Of course, there are red flags, but you can avoid them if you stay at the party.

Be more specific.
If it's family you're talking about I would say chill out.
But I don't know what you're refering too exactly.
I mean how bad is it?
I would say if you're worried that you're in danger of being killed then don't go.

Did your gf already go? Shouldn't you be there to protect or warn her? Or you're worried only about saving your own ***? :)
