If a standard electric fence had to shock a fully-grown male cat, is it possible for it to kill him? Or what injuries could he sustain?
In the event of it happening, what would be the best method to treat him?

The electric fence is one of those around standard ones around a house.

Trevor:
Don't be stupid, I'm not going to electrocute a cat. I'm worried that the place I might move into (which has electric fences) could hurt my cat.

Yes... those fences can kill a cat. If you move to that place, best keep your kitty indoors and buy an outdoor enclosure for him if you want him to enjoy the outdoors periodically.

If he is under 8 pounds, it can either kill him or cause brain damage, and if he is over 8 pounds, it may shock him, but with any luck he'll live. In any case, I'm sure you'll make your cat a "stay in the house only" cat once you've moved into the house with electric fencing.

Of course it could kill him-- if the electric fence was the type in fields to keep cattle in- they shock is strong enough to ward off the cattle- which are huge compared to a cat- so it would kill a little cat-- those types of fences can cause a human to have a heart attack. Don't forget, cattle are about 800 lbs! If you're talking about the electric fences you put in your yard and they wear a collar to keep them inside- we had that installed in our home at one time, our dog got shocked once and then everytime she went outside she would cower near the door- my husband put on the collar and went and got "shocked" it jolted him--we never used it again.

i reckon an electric fence could do a lot of damage to a cat. there was a news report here of a cat being killed on one (it tried to bite the fence when it got shocked).

If he is under 8 pounds, the cat could die or sustain brain damage. If he is over 8 punds, a mild shock will not hurt him too bad.

Turn the voltage down, set up a 24/7 web cam, start an Internet website.

Hopefully you're in an area with lots of raccoons, deer, maybe a few alligators. Maybe you can get some PETA people to try to trespass through it.
