how did you guys come up with christianity? Jesus is one of the furthest things from cruel and is so nice to the point people get irritated that evil people get forgiven and let off so easily :p or is it that yall just dont know any other god or religion? or are you guys really smart and thinking 'even tho Jesus is the least cruel God, He's the ONLY God therefore He is also the most cruel God.' heh that would be pretty smart. alright you've convinced me. i'll say christianity too then.

'God' is antithetical to "cruelty".
Either it is 'cruelty' or it is 'God'.
There can be no Cruel God.
If Human beings assign their cruel nature to 'God', for whatever purpose it may be, God can hardly be held responsible for it.
Religions in order to extract total obedience from their followers are responsible for the so portrayed "cruel" nature of God.
Banish Religion and free yourself from the fear of a punishing God and Experience the real love and goodness of "God" !!

So, be it Elohim or YHWY the difference between the cruelty and the kindness can be so extreme it is easy to see how heretical dualistic sects like the Cathars (& Bogomils, Paulicians etc.) came about.

Hinduism...even though they have more than one, but if you don't have enough good karma, he will turn you into a mosquito in your next life...that would SUCK!
EDIT: HELLO PEOPLE...are you not all aware that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all believe in the SAME God...Different prophets, same GOD.

i think in iran (which religion is it again?) they consider a man's life more valuable than a woman's. just recently, a young teen almost got raped by 3 men. she stabbed one of the men for self defense... the man died and know they are going to hang her!!! i dont know but you should do some research on religions.....
