Normal Routine Service -

* Include your departure date on your application.

After you apply - You will receive your passport: Ordinarily, within 6 weeks. However, processing times can vary depending on workload and occasional unforeseen circumstances such as natural disasters. During busier times, such as the summer travel season, we encourage customers to expedite their applications if traveling in less than 8 weeks.

_______________

Expedited Service

* Cost, in addition to regular application fees, is $60 per application plus overnight delivery costs.
* Two-way overnight delivery is strongly suggested.
* If you mail in - clearly mark Expedited on the envelope.

After you apply - You will receive your passport:Ordinarily, if you paid additionally for expedited service and two-way overnight delivery within about 2 weeks

It's a shame you don't live overseas. I am an American living in Tunisia and whenever we renew a passport for anyone in our family it only takes 10 days to 2 weeks and we don't pay any extra charges.

You still have time, but get moving! Last I heard was you can expect it to take anywhere from 6 weeks - 3 months.

You only need a passport to get into Mexico if you're flying or taking a cruise. You can still walk across the border w/o one... until 2008, when you'll need a passport no matter which way you go.

No you still have time - but I would suggest that you not wait, as there is quite a back log because of the new regulations, so many people are applying right now and it make take longer then normal. Go to the US Post Office website http://www.usps.com/ you will be able to get all of the information that you need and you can print out the forms prior to going to your local post office.

Hope this helps and have a great trip to Mexico!
