Depends where in Canada - we have free health care- and if you've ever been sick - you'd know how very important that is! Also - we tend to care about eachother more and have manners. We're also not as over wieght as Americans - but that's also a matter of where you go to. I live in southern Ontario - it's not cold and dark half the year. Our winter started in Dec... it came late - just like last year - and we now have snow for the first time in mid January. The snow is pretty and it only last through to the end of Feb. - March starts warming - then we have gorgeous weather from April- October - becuase where I live it's lower on the globe than some northern states in the US. - So it's all in where you live! :)

here's something new that just came out from UNICEF
Child Poverty in Perspective: An Overview of Child Development in Rich Countries, the seventh report from UNICEF's Innocenti Research Centre, ranks Canada 12th overall for child well-being among 21 developed countries.
European countries dominated the top half of the list, led by the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark.
The United Kingdom, however, came in last, with the United States placing second-last.
Canada was tied with Greece for 12th place, and found itself in the bottom third in three categories: family and peer relationships; behaviours and risks; and subjective well-being.
Canada had the highest percentage of children aged 11 to 15 who had experimented with cannabis and an increasing childhood obesity rate.
But it wasn't all bad news for Canada. The country placed second in the educational well-being category and sixth for material well-being.

Generally, better than that of most countries.

For years, Canada has ranked 1st in the world according to the Human Development Index (HDI). Latest figures show that Canada's slipped to 6th place. Norway currently ranks 1st, the United States ranks 8th, and the United Kingdom ranks 18th.
