3 out of 5 weekends and evenings till 11:30. I am fairly new to town (8 months). My co workers use their husbands and older kids. My kids are young and I am single. Teenagers are busy and get jobs with 4 kids that pay 50-100 per shift or they get a job nowadays at the store for $9 an hour. Anyone else about to pull your hair out. day homes want day hours. Day cares are closed. What do you do????

You could take an out of town student as a boarder, and charge her less. Do you live close to a university? Any cousins or other relatives who might be looking for a way to pay for university? :P

You could hire a part time nanny... some others mothers are strapped for cash and if they could bring their kids along, they would SO do it!!

Since you work interesting hours, see if any others moms are in the same boat. Get a few together and work out a kid swapping plan. Your kids will make some neat friends, you will get a break, and you and other moms can really save some money.

Some hospitals have daycares that have really late hours too. You could ask for advice at a local church as well - sometimes they have newer people to the country who don't need a lot of money at the moment but they need stability and good references [sponsored immigrants, etc]

Time to get creative!!

I don't know where you live, but I live in Houston, Texas. We have a daycare here that is open 24 hours. They actually have a flat rate, where you can leave your baby for any 12 hour period for any 5 days in the week. I have heard from friends that there are similar day-cares in their cities. I think they have them in most large cities, but again I don't know where you live. Maybe check into Worksource, sometimes they can help as well with locating places like this! I hope this helps and am sorry if it doesn't!

I don't have any answers. I'm in the same situation. Do you have any relatives near by? Would one of your co-workers be willing to allow your children to stay with their children? Or have one of their older children come to your house (assuming they have more than one older child)? Just some thoughts. Best wishes and take care.

Could you possibly ask someone you work with if their child will watch your kid while while they watch their own brother or sister? This seems to be one of the best ways.

Im not sure about your situation, but you should try to switch your hours if possible. Another solution to your problem might just be to get a man in your life. lol

Ask around your workplace, neighbors, friends if they know someone who might help you.

All you have to do is ask ......"hey do you know someone who might be willing to babysit my kids?"

Good Luck
