Dose anyone know of a way to adopt that dose not cost an arm and a leg. My husband makes a good living but not enough to pay 5,000-50,000 dollars for adoption fees. I am a stay at home wife. The most we could pay at one time is about 2,000. We have looked into domestic and international adoption but cannot afford ether one. Private adoption is a possibility but I cannot find info on the subject.

HI. Okay, I would suggest you go for a private adoption, but involve a lawyer in everymove. The way it works is that you place ads and mother to be who want to give their babies up for adoption respond to the ads. The reason I suggest you involve a lawyer is because in some cases, these girls will have you pay their medical expenses, and right before they give birth, decide they want to keep the baby after you have paid for almost everything! It is unfortunate that parents have to pay so much to adopt a child, especially when you do not have the financial means.
Good luck!

You could run an ad for a private adoption - but the mother is probably going to want her hospital and medical care taken care of - so $5000 is pretty reasonable. it will take a long time to find something that route. A pregnant family member or friend of friend who can't keep the baby another place to look. I know, not very likely.

Save up the money that you would spend on a child each year and you can come up with the money...adoption is expensive but you could look into being a foster parent

Adoption is very very expensive. An alternative option is to look into foster care. A friends of mine has done foster care for years and she adopted a 6 month old baby girl through the program. Foster parenting is tough but you would help children who really need it and hopefully find a child who is available for adoption. Good luck!

if you live in the states..i suggest adopting threw the state! and some states actually pay you to have the kid...i kno my parents paid a lot for me and my sister..and they did it privately...and going private you pay a lawyer i believe! and my one of my good friends that i grew up with..was adopted threw the state..and the state paid her mom to take her..but that was in 1984 and in NY...i also suggest to have a way to contact the biological parents for when the baby gets older! b/c some want to know where they came from..like me...and others dont wanna know b/c they are happy with what they got! like my sister! just be prepared if they wanna meet their biological parent
