"If a man smite his servant...notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his money." (Exodus 21:20)
Then why is death the punishment for merely cursing a parent?
"And he that curseth his father or his mother, shall be surely put to death." (Exodus 21:17)
Cursing your parents is worse than striking and injuring your servant?
Okay, church people, this is the God you believe in. Since your God never changes, please explain to us these priorities of your God.

Yes, such questions are asked from time to time, and you church people can only answer them by saying they've already been asked.
Also, you can impugn the questioner, but you cannot answer the question.

You think you have the right to make God answer to you? An ant has far more right to protest when you build a house on its nest than you do to question your creator's rules.
Even supposing you vaguely had the capacity to understand God's motives (you can't - no finite mind can grasp the infinite), you owe Him your very ungrateful existance and should obey for no better reason than that.
It makes no difference whether God's laws seem fair or not. They are God's. That is enough.

The answer is very simple you cannot judge God by your present morality.
Your opinion of morality is not important Gods is, I bet you accept man with man relations perhaps even practice it, you support everything in society that is unclean and then want to lecture about cleanness?
You want us to accept your logic when you don't even know the basics of human life?
I agree with the biblical spirit which indicates that disrespecting an authority such as a parent is more grievous than striking a servant. So there you have a contradiction to your" moral absolutes" which invalidates them.

The bible was written by people and those people interpret things in their own way and based on the traditions and laws of those times. I think you can take the bible way too literally. Some people like to argue every phrase in there like they're a bunch of lawyers. That is not religion. That is a debate team. The bible is a guide. Your life is real. You know deep down what is right and wrong and to what degree.

Jesus says if someone strikes you on the right cheek offer him the left as well. Jesus also states that his great command is that we love one another. So common sense tells me to seek simple truths, like the one written at the beginning of the Bible " inspired word of God"

The truth is obvious. The bible is a worthless rag containing the words of a bunch of ignorant, superstitious delusional morons. There is no possible way to rationalize those quotes or any of the hundreds of similar ones. Those people for whom that is not obvious will justify it with equally moronic crap like "you don't understand it" or "you've taken it out of context" Always nice to hear from a fellow brain endowed human, though, so keep posting.

sometimes we dislike in others what is reflective of something within ourselves ... does something about your belief system speak of a permanence that is unjust?
put down your focus on externalized conflict. search instead for the why. why have you continued to try to dispute, seeking answers from others? they have no answers for you. reach beyond your own mind's prejudice. seek the answers from within yourself.
you know the truth. follow that path inward.

I was right. you do know very little. Your parents are Representative of God. If you don't respect your parents, you won't respect God. What happened between you and your parents?

if you talked back to your parrents, that meant you had no respect for authority or anyone if you could talk back to the people that gave you life. if you wouldn't obey them, then chances are you wouldn't respect the state
